Mr. Coats concentrates his practice on real estate issues in connection with wind, solar and geothermal projects and on commercial real estate leasing.
Mr. Coats represents developers, lenders, equity investors and landowners in connection with wind, solar and geothermal projects. He has been intricately involved with the development, purchasing or financing of over thirty major wind projects throughout the United States, as well as many projects for solar fields, solar rooftop installations (for both on-site and off-site energy distribution), and geothermal plants.
Mr. Coats represents landlords in commercial leasing transactions in the Los Angeles area. He has represented the landlords of two of the largest office buildings in Los Angeles: the 777 Tower and Arco Plaza.
Mr. Coats received his LL.M degree from New York University, his JD degree from the University of the Pacific and his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California at Los Angeles. He is formerly of the firms Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy and Baker & McKenzie.
